2010. júniusában megrendezésre kerül a Londoni Építészeti Fesztivál, melyet a Londoni Magyar Kulturális Központ (LMKK) és a budapesti Kortárs Építészeti Központ (KÉK) közreműködésével Steierhoffer Eszter és Polyák Levente szervez és kurál. Az “Egy utca anatómiája – Anatomy of a street” egy kiállítás és tudományos atlasz (bővebben itt) melyet a londoni helyszín után tovább utaztatnak Pozsonyba, Varsóba, majd végül Budapesten is bemutatásra kerül. Mi ennek keretén belül egy hanginstalláción keresztül Budapest és Pécs Király utcájának hangjait, zajait tesszük hozzáférhetővé a kinti látogatók számára.
A hangok közötti keresgélés hasonló a sétához egy idegen városban; minimális tájékozódási pont segítségével, új benyomások hatása alatt próbálunk eligazodni egy ismeretlen rendszerben. Az installáció kimeneteiben budapesti és pécsi hangok hallhatóak. Felépítésének köszönhetően a hallgató maga választhatja meg, milyen sorrendben kapja meg ezeket az információkat. Minden kimenet egy házszámot jelöl, amely alatt az adott hanghatásokat rögzítettük. Így a hallható információkat összevetve a kiállítási térben található leírással, kirajzolható az utca térbeli elrendeződése. A hallás olyan érzékelés, amire a mindennapi életben kevéssé figyelünk, de az installáció lehetővé teszi, hogy a hallgató virtuális sétát tegyen Budapest és Pécs Király utcáiban. A különböző felvett és átdolgozott hangmontázsok a nyelvi különbségek ellenére kirajzolják a hely hangulatát, azt az érzetet keltve, mintha hirtelen ott teremnénk a helyszínen. Az installáció a kiállítás ideje alatt kiegészül Londonban felvett hangokkal, így a következő helyszíneken már ezeket a hangokat is hallhatják majd az érdeklődők.
In June 2010, the London Festival of Architecture will be held in collaboration with the London Hungarian Cultural Centre (HCC) and the Centre for Contemporary Architecture in Budapest (KEK). The "Anatomy of a Street - an exhibition and scientific atlas, organized by Eszter Steierhoffer and Levente Polyák. The venue in London, which travels to Bratislava, Warsaw, Budapest. The soundinstallation contains sounds, collected from Budapest and Pecs Kiraly street.
The searching between sounds is like a walk in a strange city; we try to navigate in an unfamiliar system under the influence of new impressions. In the outputs of the installation one can find sounds from Budapest and Pécs. Due to the structure, the listener can choose the order of receiving the audio informations. Each and every output is a designated street number, where we recorded the sound. Therefore, if one compaires the auditory information to the description in the exhibition space, the spatial arrangement of the street becomes perceptible. In everyday life, we pay less attention to hearing, but the installation will allow the listenes to take a virtual tour of King streets of Budapest and Pecs. The various recorded and remixed sounds paint the atmosphere of the place despite the language differences.
During the exhibition, the installation will be completed with the recorded sounds in London, so at the following locations, all the three localities will be hearable for the visitors.
